Obesity is a growing global problem but is especially prevalent in America.

The condition is linked to various unfavorable health conditions, including elevated blood sugar, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and more.

While numerous factors contribute to weight gain, it can be shocking to learn that some vegetables may make us gain weight.

White Potatoes

White potatoes are a good source of several vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C, potassium, and B6.

They also contain phytochemicals and fiber, especially if eaten with the skin on.

However, white potatoes can be an energy-dense food because of their high carbohydrate content. Eating too many of them can lead to weight gain over time.

Also, they are one of the most popular vegetables in the United States, with people eating an average of 49.4 pounds of them per person each year.

Whole grains, especially those that haven’t been changed much, like brown rice and quinoa, are a great alternative to white potatoes.
